Miracles are tricky things. One person’s blessing, after all, could be another person’s curse. At least, that’s how it often works on Days of Our Lives. Good news for one character could be devastating for their enemy. Or their ex… Or their husband. And yes, we are getting pointedly specific here.
It wasn’t that long ago that Johnny and Chanel lost their surprise baby when they learned her pregnancy had never been viable. Another baby so soon after losing their precious baby would be a miracle for the two of them — unless, of course, Johnny wasn’t the father.
It wasn’t that long ago that we didn’t even think that was an issue, but now that we’re seeing where this Body and Soul journey is heading, we’re sure it’s an inevitability. The show’s just starting and Alex and Chanel are already slated for a sex scene together. Right now, neither them, nor Johnny are happy about it, but we know how these things go.
Johnny’s jealousy is going to get out of hand, unintentionally pushing Chanel away and towards Alex. Those two will resist each other at first, but it can be tough to separate an onscreen relationship from one off it.
Sure, they may be pretty vehemently against getting too up close and personal right now, but we need look no farther than Johnny’s dad and aunt to see how little that matters. EJ and Gabi once hated each other with the undying passion of a thousand sons now heading towards a very obvious romance. And we already know Alex and Chanel are attracted to each other — at least on a superficial level.
If they reignite that off-screen behind Johnny’s back and Chanel ends up pregnant… Well, that would certainly be a miracle. Just not for the married couple. Because if Johnny and Chanel’s baby wasn’t viable but her and Alex’s is that would just about be the death knell in “Janel’s” marriage, even more so than any infidelity.
The ultimate slap in the face? If they discovered they were expecting around the holidays, when little Noel or Noelle was supposed to have been born.
It’s a scandal that could tear Body and Soul apart. First off, Johnny would probably either quit over it or demand the lovers be replaced. After all, it’s not like he needs the money. And it would be an HR nightmare that could lead to Alex or Chanel leaving. Even if they survived that, Chanel would have to go on maternity leave at some point, and it doesn’t look like the show exactly has the actors to spare. Alex himself just pointed out to Bonnie that it’s being put together on a shoestring budget. In Salem.
Powerhouse supercouples are the bread and butter of soap operas. Could Salem’s own production really be carried on the backs of Bonnie and Hattie? We know they’d like to think so, but our guess is no.
