The Bold And The Beautiful: Steffy, A Failed Attempt To Be A Villain? My Two Bits
Steffy Forrester is definitely one of the central characters on The Bold And The Beautiful. She is the daughter of legacy couple Ridge and Taylor. Steffy has been a mainstay on the CBS drama for decades now. Thus, it is safe to say that she has been a part of many pivotal storylines and has gone through several character arcs.
However, in recent years, the writers have been writing her character a little differently than before. Sure, Steffy was always fierce and assertive, but she still had a kind and respectful side to her. Off-late, she comes across as downright vindictive. In fact, many would argue that she is becoming rather insufferable.
Now, it is not that we haven’t seen such character shifts before. Many positive characters take a dark turn, while many evil ones get white-washed, that’s just how soapverse works. But there is always a reason behind those shifts. However, there seems to be no plausible explanation for Steffy’s deep dive into the dark realm.

She has a successful career at Forrester Creations and a perfect family at home with a loving husband and good kids. Thus, the mean spirit she has been expelling makes little to no sense. We know that she has several axes to grind with Hope and Brooke, but that’s nothing new, and certainly does not call for her to shed her true self and turn into a villainess.
In fact, we wouldn’t be too off the mark if we said that there are times when Steffy gives off young Sheila Carter vibes. This makes us wonder if the makers are doing this deliberately. Are they trying to turn Steffy into Sheila? It is clear that the makers are trying to redeem Sheila with her new reformed behavior and the love saga with Deacon Sharpe.
If Sheila does get reformed, B&B will lose its most formidable villain! And what’s a soap without a good villain? Perhaps that’s why the makers are trying to paint Steffy a few shades darker to make her descent into evilhood a tad bit easier!
