As of right now, Thomas, it seems, is still officially part of the canvas of The Bold and the Beautiful. In fact, despite him running off overseas after Hope shot down his marriage proposal, his recent return from Paris (with Paris) just showed us that he could still pop up at any time. But we can’t help but wonder how long that will be true.
Because the show just doesn’t seem interested in investing in him anymore. That return back in July when he and Paris surprised us with their engagement? While they initially had made it seem that he and Paris were going to stick around until the wedding, the two ran off back to Paris after just a few episodes — and a mini freak out from Hope.
And speaking of Hope, even before Thomas’ return set off a fresh wave of “I need you”s, she and Finn were already growing closer and she’s pretty much moved on from having the hots for Thomas to fantasizing about Finn. (Actually, as of today, she kissed him! Check out the recap here, if you missed it.)
Then there’s Thomas’ relationship. Sure, it’s always promising when two characters couple up. But soap opera characters thrive off of drama, and when the entire relationship plays out offscreen, there is zero investment by the viewers and things rarely end well. Remember Wyatt and Flo? They got together, disappeared, and eventually, we learned that Darin Brooks had been let go.
Thomas just doesn’t have many story connections left back in Los Angeles. Sure Steffy’s around and almost always awash in story. And now that Taylor’s returned, both Thomas’ parents are in town once again. But family isn’t reason enough to stick around. Heck, it’s never worked for Rick. Or Thorne. Or… well, you get the point.
So while Thomas is still officially part of the show, we can’t help but feel that the folks at Bold & Beautiful just aren’t that into him anymore. So don’t be surprised if some day we get word that he’s sticking around in Paris — for good.
