Based on recent updates, Alison Sweeney will return to the soap to reprise her role as Sami Brady. Sweeney, who first played Sami in 1993 as a teenager, hasn’t been seen on the show since 2022. Now back on set, she is busy filming a new storyline that took her by surprise.
In a TV Insider interview, the actress said, “I was thrilled to be invited to return. I love playing Sami, and I am always happy for the chance to come back. We always have to figure out scheduling and such, but if at all possible, I’m so glad to make it happen.” Sweeney also took to Instagram to share a photo outside her dressing room on set, captioning it, “Sami is back in Salem.”
Indeed, fans are excited to see her return to the daytime drama. Meanwhile, Cady McClain will make her comeback as Jennifer Horton Devereaux on the soap. The actress will return to town to join the ongoing mystery involving Abigail. McClain has been portraying the character since Melissa Reeves’s departure, with her most recent appearance being in 2023.

Later this week, Finley Rose Slate will step back into her role as the spirited Rachel Black. She will appear in an episode where she visits Marlena (Deidre Hall) with her mother, Kristen (Stacy Haiduk). Tina Huang, on the other hand, will get more screen time as Melinda Trask.
She will appear in scenes with Tamara Braun’s Ava for a single episode. Melinda, the aggressive district attorney, was initially portrayed by Laura Kai Chen from 2013 to 2019, with Tina Huang taking over in 2020. Since she’s returning to our screens, she might get involved in Abigail’s case, potentially influencing Billy Flynn’s Chad.
Emily O’Brien Has Departed
At last, Emily O’Brien’s run on the soap ended after Theresa was sent to Statesville prison last week. She received a six-month sentence for tampering with Victor’s will. The actress first appeared on Days Of Our Lives as Gwen Rizczech in 2020 but was written off in October 2023.
She then took over the role of Theresa, replacing Jen Lilley, in the same episode. Confirming her exit from the show, the Peacock drama actress told Soap Opera Digest magazine, “I ended up falling in love with Theresa and who she is and the circle that she’s involved in.”
