The Days of Our Lives actress chatted with Soap Opera Digest about her daytime debut. She also opened up about her personal connection to Abigail’s Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). AnnaLynne described the experience of being cast in a role with minimal guidance. Her storyline came at the end of the writers’ strike.
McCord explained, “There were a few ideas about where the character might go, but I wasn’t given any concrete details.” Moreover, the soap diva was initially confused, but that’s what made it fun. Also, Anna strives to find the truth in every scene. So, she hoped it would fit with whatever character she became.” Now, let’s learn how she felt upon landing the role.
According to the DOOL star, it was quite serendipitous. It turned out that Marnie Saitta, who had cast McCord ages ago, reached out and offered this opportunity. She recalled, “It felt magical that it all came together like that, especially given the circumstances.” Additionally, Anna is no newbie to the genre and shares a special connection with it.
Credit goes to her grandmother, Mimi, with whom she used to watch the Peacock soap. Then, the star dished out the process of creating this new character. “The producers and directors have been incredibly generous, giving me the freedom to shape my role.” Subsequently, she had a blast dealing with all the twists and turns. Her co-star, Billy Flynn, has been instrumental in helping McCord understand Abigail’s background. The actor is known for having extensive knowledge of the show. Acting alongside him has also been a treat for AnnaLynne. “He’s a wonderful actor and a great person. Our off-screen chemistry definitely adds to our on-screen dynamic.”
