Up to Her Neck in General Hospital Story, Kate Mansi Speaks Out On Days of Our Lives’ Abigail: ‘There’s a Lot More to Play’

As quick as Days of Our Lives was in getting our hopes up that Abigail was alive and well, it took even less time to dash those hopes to pieces. We don’t know exactly who Chad’s brought back from Missouri, but it’s not his wife. “Abigail” is working with Dr. Mark Greene to pretend to be the real deal for… reasons we’re still trying to find out. But we do know that the DiMeras have a ton of money and Salem is full of manipulative people looking for get rich quick schemes.

At the same time, we’ve also speculated that the real deal could still be out there somewhere — and this story could still lead to Abigail’s return. One person who would be happy to see that? General Hospital’s Kate Mansi.

She’s been busy over in Port Charles where Kristina went from a fraught family surrogate story to losing her baby after falling through a hotel window into the pool below. But through all of that, Mansi still has Abigail on her mind. It makes sense as Days of Our Lives was her first soap and Mansi was the first actress to tackle an adult Abigail, not just once, but twice!

For her part, Mansi hopes that “Chabby” isn’t over. She admitted that in an interview with Women’s World, saying that “Abigail and Chad have such a beautiful love story that she should get another run at it. I loved playing her, and it was very hard for me to let go of her.”

We’re sure the fans would agree with pretty much every part of that sentence. We’re also sure it was hard for them to let go of Abigail, too! And that’s why they won’t stop hoping that she somehow returns.

“Billy Flynn and I have really great chemistry that lent itself to great stories,” Mansi continues, “so there’s a lot more to play and a lot more to keep exploring.”

There’s no doubt that if Days of Our Lives decides to bring Chad’s wife back for real, there would be plenty for them to explore for years to come. But if they do, don’t expect Mansi back in the role now that she’s wrapped up in General Hospital drama. With that said, though, if the real return doesn’t happen for some time, there’s no telling what the future can hold — for Abigail, Kristina or Mansi!
