Although when Adam J. Harrington joined the cast of General Hospital in February 2024, he faced an uphill battle, day in and day out he climbed. Sure, it was weird that Jagger was suddenly blond and a jerk and dumb enough to threaten the life of our beloved Ava. But his portrayer dove in and made an impression — so much so that we were bummed to see Cates killed off.
That is, we were bummed until it occurred to us that that soap’s loss could be another soap’s gain. Days of Our Lives could recognize Harrington’s leading-man potential and tap him to return to Salem the one and only Peter Blake (played by Jason Brooks in the 1990s).
Consider: The character of Stefano DiMera’s adopted son has been off screen for eons and is at this point a veritable blank slate. Peter could come back a changed man following his prison stint, only to be drawn once again to the dark side by sister Kristen. In no time, he’d be up to his eyeballs in treachery with his DiMera family. In fact…
With Alison Sweeney bringing Sami home, Peter could end up vying with EJ for the troublemaker’s affections. Peter might even try to present himself as the saner option by insisting that he’s learned from his mistakes and walks the straight and narrow now — even though we know the tiger hasn’t altogether managed to change his stripes.
Another option would pair Peter with a long-ago character who wasn’t terrible well-handled the first time around. But with another familiar face cast in the key role — and a romance with Peter on the agenda — her story could have a much happier ending this time.
