Wow… The *Way* General Hospital’s Striking Out Sam Seals Another Character’s Fate, Too

We’ll give General Hospital credit for jacking up the drama. Its apparent plan to send Kelly Monaco’s Sam McCall to the grave is to have her die in surgery while attempting to donate part of her liver to Emme Rylan’s Alexa Havins’ Lulu Spencer.

Heartbreaking and emotional? For sure. But fans who are displeased that Sam is being killed off are likely to see her demise in service of another heroine as salt being rubbed in a very fresh wound. As a result, “NuLu” is going to be waking up to an audience that resents her.

What’s more, the plot that General Hospital seems to have in store for Luke and Laura’s daughter is only going to further stack the deck against her. Obviously, the soap will be picking up the thread that was snipped when Lulu slipped into a coma: that she still loves and wants to reunite with her ex-husband, Dominic Zamprogna’s Dante Falconeri.

Since the detective is now Sam’s significant other, the show will be giving not only a part of her liver but her lover to Lulu. What next? Bequeathing to Rocco and Charlotte’s mom an all-black wardrobe?

Of course, complicating matters to the nth is the fact that Monaco’s departure is not her choice. Earlier this month, the actress, a frontburner mainstay for 21 years, called her dismissal “retaliation at it[s] finest.” How so, she did not make clear but promised to in the future. “I will give a proper statement. The truth will set you free.”

So will anyone be able to root for “Lante” when the reunion comes at the expense of “Sante”? Dante is sure to be racked by guilt over the fact that his girlfriend ended up sacrificing herself to save the life of his former spouse. Even “Lante” shippers are likely to feel bad that “Sante” has to end for their couple to begin again.
