There are certain stars who have held soap roles for many, many years, which means often generations of viewers have watched them grow up on soaps during that time. One such actress comes to mind and that’s General Hospital’s Kimberly McCullough.

One of her very first roles was landing the part of Robin and in a recent social media post, she stated, “I’m often asked what it was like ‘growing up on television’.” And as we all know, like McCullough went on to say, the ABC soap was a big part of her life as she grew up, but one might be surprised to hear that it wasn’t the most important part.

“My focus was on whoever I was crushing on at the time and what me and my friends were going to do that weekend,” she shared then went on to give examples of such activities that occupy many kids. “Riding our bikes through the neighborhood, late night chats on the phone and long bus rides to the beach… that’s where I grew up.”

And along with her post, McCullough gave her followers a glimpse at two very special ladies as she added, “Been so nice to connect with old friends this summer and be proud of how much we’ve all grown. Love you Toni and Pam.”

So, you see, not every star has lived and breathed their long-term roles, and we are so happy that Robin’s portrayer was able to be a kid while juggling an acting career at such a young age, especially when so many others have expressed how they were robbed of their childhoods. And in a neat turn of events, earlier this month, McCullough reunited with another star who “grew up in Port Charles.”
